New images of the planned New Addington leisure centre have been released.
The leisure centre, which is on target to be completed by autumn of this year, will include a swimming pool, fitness suite, sports hall and community space.
A total of £25 million has been set aside for the “state of the art” centre by the council, which is being built on the western side of Central Parade.
Investment from NHS funding of £5 million will also be put towards the cost of a well being centre.
In the planned development, a community space with two large halls, a kitchen and a bar will all be available for activities and events, the council say.
As well as this, there will be a six-lane swimming pool, a learning pool, fitness suite and sport hall will be built.
In a statement, the council said: “Willmott Dixon Construction have been appointed to deliver the major works for this new and exciting build and look forward to working with the community to establish this facility in the area.
“The construction of the new leisure centre is on target for completion in Autumn 2018. The centre will be opened to the public by the leisure contractor within eight weeks of completion.”
