Develop Croydon showcasing town at MIPIM UK

Develop Croydon will be showcasing how Britain’s largest regeneration project is about much more than bricks and mortar when it takes part in MIPIM UK later this month.

n

A domestic version of the international real estate show is being held at London’s Olympia for the second time from October 21 to 23.

n

As part of Croydon’s presence at the event key stakeholders will feature in a panel debate on the opening day called Croydon – London’s new city fringe which will be chaired by Stacey Meadwell, London editor of Estates Gazette.

n

They will discuss how the Boxpark pop-up mall, the capital’s fastest growing tech hub and an invasion of culture are helping to create a revitalised and vibrant city centre in Croydon.

n

The panel comprises:

n

Councillor Tony Newman: leader of the London Borough of Croydon who aims to fulfil a vision for a vibrant, clean safe Croydon and is lobbying for increased government financial support to address his priorities;

n

Roger Wade: chief executive and founder of Boxpark, having created British fashion brand Boxpress before creating the world’s first pop-up mall at Shoreditch in 2013. Boxpark Croydon, a food and drink concept, was launched this summer and is due to open in 2016;

n

Steve Yewman: development director of Westfield, which is partnering with Hammerson under the banner of the Croydon Partnership to redevelop the Whitgift scheme. Has been involved in regeneration projects in Croydon for the past decade;

n

Francois Mazoudier: managing partner of Tech Leders Capital, a co-investment club for global tech chief executives with outstanding track records. He previously worked in executive roles building eight technology companies.

n

A separate session on the opening day, entitled Petra Kucha Croydon, will aim to change perceptions of the town in a quickfire format, as a series of experts sum up what the town means to them in 60 seconds or less.

n

Develop Croydon, a private sector led organisation, will once again be leading the town’s interests against next year by taking a stand at MIPIM 2016, which takes place in Cannes, France, from March 15 to 18.
