WORK has begun on a £15million expansion of Wing Yip, the popular Oriental-inspired supermarket in Purley Way, Croydon. The extra 34,000 sq ft will feature a cold warehouse, entrance lobby, expanded shop floor and additional car parking with the store remaining open while the improvements – due for completion in 2019 – are made. London store director Albert Yip said: “The store expansion will give us the opportunity to grow our range, in keeping with the evolving consumer palate.”

AN open weekend at the Grafton Quarter, which has been transformed from an industrial estate into new homes in Croydon, takes place from May 19 to 21. The scheme, made up of one, two and three bedroom townhouses around a landscaped square, as well as around 20,000 sq ft of artist space, has been delivered by the Neptune Group.
