Tide continues to turn as residential tower application is submitted

A major new residential tower is being proposed in George Street after developers and contractors Tide Construction unveiled plans to build 546 build-to-rent homes near to East Croydon station.

The developer has submitted an environmental impact assessment application to Croydon Council which peaking at 44 storeys would, if built, become the tallest modular constructed building in the world.

The site already has planning permission for 305 homes in 31 and 16 storey buildings, much larger than Tide’s recently-completed Apex House, a 29-storey modular housing scheme in Wembley (pictured) which provides student accommodation and is Europe’s tallest modular building.

Tide built that scheme using its off-site manufacturing system, Vision Modular Systems, and claims its factory-built programme often results in a 60 per cent time saving and 80 per cent fewer vehicle movements than conventional construction schemes.
