Work has begun on 96 new apartments on the site of the former Lombard House office block.
Bellway Homes are delivering the scheme in Purley Way, which features 31 affordable homes for rent, a 57-space car park and 198 bicycle spaces, having secured planning permission two years ago.
“We’re proud to be starting work on a development which will not only provide much needed new homes in Croydon, but also a substantial amount of retail space which will hopefully encourage more businesses to call the area home,” said a spokesman for Bellway about the scheme, which is also known as Lombard House.
“These are properties which will appeal to a wide range of different buyers.
“Ever since we received planning permission for this development, we’ve been receiving enquiries about the homes here, and have received interest from across the board, including young professionals, first-time buyers and investors.”
