The not-for-profit Community Interest Company, owned by White Label, will contest for the ‘Collaborators Award’ at this year’s EG Awards ceremony.

The annual event celebrates real estate’s finest and rewards the success of organisations on both a national and global scale.
Develop Croydon has been spearheading the town’s transformation for the best part of a decade, having grown from eight founding members into a powerful group of over 65 partners, who all share a vision to promote Croydon as a location to invest, work and live.

Richard Plant, chairman of Develop Croydon, and Partner at SHW, said: “This is fantastic news. In 2011, eight companies set out to challenge the negative perceptions of Croydon and encourage regeneration and development. What is truly inspirational is how the eight founding members have now become 69, including representatives from all market sectors – residential, retail, and office developers, as well as the Greater London Authority and London Borough of Croydon.

“All differences are set aside and everyone focuses on promoting Croydon. It’s the definition of collaboration, so it’s just reward for all the hard work and commitment from the Develop Croydon committee and the support of all our partners. We’ve got our fingers crossed for the final award, but even to be shortlisted for such a prize is a real honour.”

Katharine Glass, Director of White Label, and founder of Develop Croydon, said: “The town has come a long way since we decided to hold the first Develop Croydon Conference in 2010. We then subsequently formed the private sector-led Forum, with the aim of working collaboratively to promote Croydon and secure economic renewal and regeneration.

“There’s still lots to be done to keep moving the town in the right direction as Croydon’s transformation continues to gather pace.”

The Forum faces stiff competition in the ‘Collaborators Award’ category. Going head-to-head against Develop Croydon, are: Built-ID, City of London digitally maps the Square Mile with Built-ID; Fort Kinnard, Edinburgh, Fort Kinnard Recruitment & Skills Centre Partnership; Innovation Gateway, The Power of Many – Innovation Gateway; TFT and Freehold, Freehold; West Midlands Combined Authority, the first West Midlands Combined Authority Housing Deal.
Last year the award was won by regeneration specialists U+I and the London Borough of Lewisham for their work on Deptford Market Yard.

This year’s winners will be announced on the night of Wednesday 19 September, at a glittering awards ceremony at The Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
